Sustainability

A Celebration of Values and Music

Kerava Jazz Festival is more than a music event. It is a value-driven meeting place that promotes equality, inclusion, fairness, safety, and environmental responsibility through culture. At the same time, the festival strengthens the City of Kerava’s position as a cultural city — highlighting local expertise and bringing Kerava’s music scene into national and international visibility.

A Programme Built on Values

The festival’s artist selections are based on diversity: musicians of different genders and backgrounds are represented on stage. The many voices of jazz are given space, with particular attention paid to the visibility of women artists. Agreements with performers are transparent and fair, and Finnish musicians are offered professional opportunities in connection with the festival.

An Open and Accessible Event for Everyone

Kerava Jazz Festival is designed to be accessible to all. Accessibility is considered throughout the festival area with clear signage and functional services. Multilingual communication ensures that international visitors can participate naturally and comfortably. Ticket pricing also takes different life situations into account by offering free events — cultural experiences belong to everyone.

Responsible and Safe

The festival’s structures are based on transparent decision-making. Designated harassment contact persons are in place to address inappropriate behaviour, and safer-space principles are clearly communicated. All staff members are trained to promote a respectful and safe festival experience.

An Ecological Cultural Event

Environmental values are integrated throughout the festival. Supporting local performers, encouraging low-emission transport solutions, using renewable energy, and implementing recycling practices are all part of Kerava Jazz Festival’s ecological responsibility. Festival products are selected according to ethical and environmental criteria.

The Community’s Voice Matters

The festival evolves together with its community. We gather feedback from visitors, performers, and volunteers, and use these perspectives in developing the event further. In this way, we ensure that Kerava Jazz Festival remains a relevant and meaningful cultural experience. Kerava Jazz Festival resonates with music while bringing values, community spirit, and artistic vitality into the rhythm of our city. Welcome to help build a celebration of culture that leaves a lasting impression!
